How many degrees can u get from an uth?

OK, I have a 55 gallon glass(I know go plastic) anyway I have it setup like the sticky except my house stays pretty cool so I had to make a hole on the cool side and put red bulb on it to get my cool side up. My temps are 91 on left and 84 on right. I have thermostats on both left red light, right heat emitter and uth. I measure temps with accurite. I have to mist like crazy to get my humidity up so I was wondering if I added a uth on the cool side would it warm it up enough that I could get rid of the light and maybe help my enclosure from drying out so much?

All of your heating can be through heating pads or similar... you want to use a thermostat to regulate your heating element temps. As for the humidity, you can use duct tape, etc.....

    this might help? http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=32800

Re: How many degrees can u get from an uth?

If your room temps are like mine use to be (in the 60's) a UTH wont do it on the cool side... See if you can return the red light bulb and pick up a ceramic heat emitter... Its your best bet at keeping the heat up w/o killing the humidity... I used one on each of my 2 tanks last winter and made it through just fine... Difference is I was usuing 40gal not 55... 55 is a lil taller so you might find its damn near impossible to get it to work... In my snake room I have the room temp set to 65 and my space heater set to 68 and it allows me to keep all of my cool side temps above 77... Might want to can the light bulb/CHE idea... spend 10$ on a tub and 50$ on a space heater... In the end I'm going to guess thats whats you'll end up having to do... How big is your snake? A 66qt for babies and 96qt for juvies gives them space(which I'm guessing is why you have the 55gal) but also makes it much easier to maintain temps/humid.

I have my top like that I said in my first post it was like the sticky thread. I have a heat emitter on the warm side with thermostat, so the heat emitter doesn't eat up humidity, just the red bulb? So u would invest in a heat emitter vs a uth? I have a thermostat for either one, if the heat emitter doesn't eat humidity I would rather try it because I know I can get my temps where I want them. What watt would u recommend? I would rather go bigger because I have a thermostat but if I go smaller I won't be able to get the heat I need

I have a RHP in the mail right now. It's actually going to be used in a T3 for AP (which I'm purchasing soon), but I'm going to use it in my 10 gallon tank 'til my T3 comes.
I've been having humidity problems during the day with my 60watt bulb sucking out humidty. I'll let you know how it goes once it's running. They're supposed to be good about that though.

I dunno how well the duct tape method works as ive never used it but i can vouch for plexiglass being effective at keeping humidity in... Id go with a larger CHE just for reasons like you said... its going to be hooked up to a thermostat so it doesnt really matter how large it is... Just make sure you keep this outside of the tank and be careful... those things get soooo hot theyll melt your skin in a heartbeat.
