Moving to Tub but need help

Hello everyone. Sorry for not posting much lately. Started a new job and everyone here knows how that can be . So Mojo is doing awesome. He has as of last week moved up to a largeer sized mouse but I am hvaing a slight issue with him.

Onto Thread issue. I am moving him into a tub this weekend. But the only problem is for a 6 month odl snake I do not know what size tub to get him and the proper setup. Please if anyone can hook me up on everything I will need. I mean EVERYTHING! I need to know tub size. Humidifier type and everything for the little guy. I figure if I am going to put him int tub might as well make sure it is right off bat for him. Thank you all.

Re: Moving to Tub but need help

I'd do a sterilite 15qt tub(try Target, they have the nice ClearView tubs). You don't need humidifiers with tubs, they retain humidity sometimes too well.

    You will need:
-Soldering iron to make holes for air flow
-1-2 identical hides, small, low to the ground, dark, easy to clean
-small water bowl, 2-3" in diameter
-quality digital thermostat(ranco or johnson controls work fine, Helix and Herpstat are good too)
    -newspaper or aspen for bedding
-binder clips or a small bungee cord to hold lid on
-undertank heater or flexwatt, size depends on how cool the room is that the tub is in
    -digital thermometer/hygrometer w/probe

    And that's about it!

If you don't have a soldering iron, an electric drill with small size drill bits will work just as well...and won't smell of burning plastic.

Also, if you can get the kind of tub with the lids that latch on by themselves then you won't need the bungee; it's what I've got my babies in, and it works just as well. Alternatively as a rack-style thing at wal-mart they have these fully enclosed sliding clear plastic tubs which work great for a 'rack' type thing, or just stand alone. The small ones should be fine but check the space between the top of the lid and the solid top of the holder.

A good way to keep from having the UTH stick on and get nasty is to put paper on the sticky and duct tape it in place, and move it when necessary.

Re: Moving to Tub but need help

Thank you for the advice. I am defiently looking forward to Tub use rather then tank. Seems like with tank I am doing so much extra effort during his shed that tub seems to be the way to go
