    Granite- $40.00?

Just seen a beautiful granite at the pet store for $40 bucks.

How much are these usually on the market?

I'm positive the shop was unaware what it was.

    Re: Granite- $40.00?

Depends I think. I got mine for $100 shipped from a well known breeder. She's a 06 CH but she's a great eater with one sassy sassy attitude.

I'd be a bit worried since it's at a petstore. Who knows if it's a WC, CH, CB... if it's eating, has any health issues, etc. If you are looking for a granite then I'd look in to getting one from a breeder. I've seen them go for $100-475+. Guess it depends all on what you are looking for and what you are looking to spend. I just luckly fell into a good deal with mine since he needed to move her out for all of his 07 CH babies. She was originally priced a lot higher.

    Re: Granite- $40.00?

Sometimes pet stores or other sellers like to place fancy names like "granite" or "high gold" on normals...its just marketing...whether or not its a true granite is a whole different story but $40 for a normal in a pet store is pretty good regardless of what it is. Normals around here go for anywhere from $30 to as much as $100.

    Re: Granite- $40.00?

I picked up my granite at petsandpals 2 years ago with no clue to myself or the store what he was. I think because it is a harder trait to spot when not trained many of them slip through. I know alot of stores in Tacoma Wa area buy from local breeders too. I would say if it seems healthy and its a good price why not. But then again thats just me.

There are a lot of normals sold as granites, in some cases I think and agree that they are sold and "Labeled" as granite to increase the possibility of a quick sale.

In other cases, I think it's just a case of people not knowing the difference between a granite and normal and it's unintentional.

    Re: Granite- $40.00?

I would be leary. If you bought a genetic granite from a breeder, you know its lineage and whether or not it is likely to be genetic. Unless you just like the look of a granite and do not mind if it is genetic or not; then the pet-store find could be a possibility.

Wait, you identified it as a granite, or they labelled it as a granite?
