Help me figure this one out??

Ok I went to my animal shelter and they have 2 snakes that no one knows what they are. I know that sucks and oh yea the husbandry on both suck to but the person caring for them wanted to learn more. So this one snake is 4-5 feet long and looks like a diamond back snake but no rattler. It is brown and black striped. Prolly describes most fo the snakes but any guesses? The other one is smaller bodied and like a off yellow color and mean as nails. Im gonna try and get pics of them tomorrow when I go to pick up my kittes but any guesses??

The first one sounds like a water snake to me. I have no idea what a yellow color snake could be.

That really blows me away! Now I know not every shelter is up on their snakes and all that, but how can they provide proper care if they haven't identified the species of snakes and what their husbandry requirements are? How can they offer them for adoption if they are unidentified?

Just based on your first description it might be a night snake.

I agree with others though I am surprised they are available when no one knows what they are.

Re: Help me figure this one out??

The yellow more looks like an olive python when I looked up pics of differnet snakes. The second one is either that night snake or a tawian beauty. They were both confiscates by police so I guess they forgot to ask what they are? The one that looks to be an olive is mean and has already bitten 2 people there so no one will even work with. They have 2 5ft balls in one cage also and no humidity or anything. I was just like umm holly **** when I saw it all. And they offer these for $30 reguardless of what they are or anything. I contacted a local resuce here to see if they can get those snakes out of that situation even though both have a 10 day hold to see if anyone comes for them.
