Hey guys,

Well it has been a rough few weeks for me and of course my short-tail. I recieved him in perfect condition from Kara @ NERD. He was a great eater, shed perfect, pee'd, drank and was docile. Fastforward to a week ago. I had not had a bowel movement from him since I got him, only reason I had waited so long to seek a vet was because I know these guys really hold their crap in.

Well after soaking and soaking I started to feel on his body and sure enough I could feel a HARD mass at the last 1/4 of his body.

Went to the vet and got an X-ray done and sure enough he was full to the brim with fecal matter and hard urates. Vet gave me some oral medicine (stool softener) and told me to give 2 ML's every other day for a week and see what happens and we would go from there.

So this is the first time I have ever had to administer medicine to any of my snakes....needless to say it was amatuer hour lol.

All of sudden in the middle of him squirming..me repeaditly apologizing for having to grab his head and his tail thrashing...I see that something is coming out of him. I grab the end of his tail and help him pass two HUGE HARD urates. I set him back into his cage because I was so happy I had to go tell some people. I then take him back out of his cage and try to adminsiter the medicine again well he takes a nice big 10 inch dump!!!

I will call my vet in the morning and let her know and see if I am go to go on getting him back to feeding. I have held off on feeding him for about a month and a half.

Just wanted to share my long and boring story. These guys have a very slow metabolism BUT it is our job to check and make sure there arent other issues.

Mike
