    Hows your blood?

How is your blood on his or her activity level? I hope I don't sound like a rookie. Don't get me wrong I know they're a little lethargic.

But how often do you see your blood at night? Catch em drinking?

So far my guy is a ghost. I never see him out day or night. And will spend days on end in one end of the tub. I also pull him out and since I never catch him drinking. I hold him over his water dish to see what can happen. I've done it twice. And he drinks like nobodys business.

Anybody else notice any of this? Input/advice? How's your blood?

Bloods & short-tails are EXTREMELY sedentary animals. They're simply not active snakes...bar-none!

If you're worried about your blood drinking (or not), try changing out water daily. Some are really picky about extremely fresh water.

Water dishes are sprayed down daily with diluted chlorhexidine. Rinsed and refilled with fresh water.

Its also big enough for him to soak in.

I know mines is a picky drinker. I do the same too, just so I know shes hydrated. Some times she swings around to the bowl and drinks a lot and some times she doesnt.

She mostly drinks it after Ive cleaned it.

Hmmm. Ill just try and clean the bowl better each time. I honestly don't know how I can do it though haha. Unless I bleached it every day.

He eats just fine for me every week. And took to frozen thawed no problem after being fed prekilled. Just not much of a drinker I suppose.

My baby male will very rarely cruise. My one year old female is a lump, except for feeding day when she pokes her head out expectantly and stares pointedly at the front of the cage.

    Re: Hows your blood?

The only action I get from him is the occasional head poking out of his hides. Haha.

Feeding day comes around and sure enough he comes out and wham!!!! Then he goes right back into hiding.

I guess he's drinking more water than I thought. I weighed him again today and he's up from 1430 to 1440.
