    Unhappy Obese Snake????

i took my female to the vet on friday because she has RI and she said she was over weight. She also said i must be overfeeding i told her that i only feed 2 adult mice every week or so. she is 620 grams and almost 3 feet. she looks fine too me i feed my male the same thing and he is very skinny compared to her. Should i cut her back on feeding I personaly think shes fine but what do i know. thanks.

    Hi,

Well maybe you could post a picture and ask for opinions? How experienced in herps and Bp's was the vet you used? How did they decide to treat the RI for example?

Over weight? Then my pastel is way obese - she is close to 800g at 3ft.

My vet said she looked awesome just last week. I think you need a new vet - one that knows what a BP should look like.

    Re: Obese Snake????

well i was reffered to this vet on this forum and she said she has had many snakes including bp's and she went with baytril and flagyl (sp) to treat the RI. her name was Dr. Dielo at the westminster veterinary group. She specializes in exotics. And pics are on the way i didnt want to disturb her for pics because I just stuck two syringes down her throat and shes kinda angry at me. And shes in the middle of shedding.

she looks fine to me not fat at all but i figured i would ask some more experienced keepers.

you can see where some of her skin rubbed off when she was struggling with me. on her neck and back it was stuck to my arm.

Looks fine to me. Be prepared to soak her though if she tries to be naughty and have a bad shed
