As we have mentioned in other threads scattered throughout the site, the staff frequently discusses the merits and pros & cons of our current rep system. And, of course, lately it has been much on our minds.

One of our primary concerns for removing the anonymity feature of the system as it stands now, is because everyone who had left anonymous neg-rep points previously would lose the confidentiality of their assumed privacy. But now...due to the hard work and efforts of our indefatigable Raj (Iceman25)...we have a way to fix that issue.

And so, to you, dear members...we put this test of our current rep system policies:

1. Leave it as it is and continue our standard operating procedures dealing with unjust rep hits.

2. Remove the anonymity feature once and for all, and allow all members to see who leaves every rep comment left for them. -- The condition of this would be that all negative comments left PRIOR to this change in the system would be attributed to "testaccount" which is Raj's poor, haggard guinea-pig for testing stuff. All positive comments left in the past would be attritubed to the person who left them. This would only affect negative comments. And from this change on....all NEW rep comments left, whether positive or negative, would be attributed to the person leaving them.

This is a very significant change to our system and our community, so we are looking for a CLEAR majority on this poll. A 51 to 50 vote would not bring about this change...but if we have a majority of at least 10 votes, we will get this new system put into place soon.

This thread will remain open for questions of a technical nature...but PLEASE do not start debates on the merits of the rep system. If you have concerns about the nature of the rep system that you wish to discuss with staff, please send a PM to Iceman25 and he will get back to you as soon as he can. Any argumentative or disruptive posts in this thread will be deleted.
