Joy & sadness all rolled into one

This Rupple Line Pastel to normal female clutch turned out to be the perfect 50/50 split.... 2 normals and 2 pastels.... sad part is one pastel & normal were dead in the egg.

After the first normal and pastel pipped, I had a bad feeling about the 2 eggs left so I cut em.... and found em dead inside.

Here is the dead pastel.... unbelieveable looking pastel, what shame!

Check out the belly, pure white.... not a mark anywhere on it!

Sides, high white and mojave like markings....

Now here is the pastel that made it.

    It's almost mark free belly!

And compared with the dead one side by side. They are worlds apart in color and pattern.... the dead one just pops beside the other pastel which is by no means dull!

I have no idea why the two died, but gratefull for what lived! Dem's Da Breaks I guess....

I wouldn't assume he/she would have looked like that alive. A day or two of lost development and/or no yolk nourishment would probably change the appearance.

Scott very nice looking Pastel. I'll have to second dcgator, in that most animals that die in the egg, didn't quite go full term, and can end up with very crazy coloring, even though the pattern is pretty much set, the color and pattern near the belly may not have been fully developed.

Do all animals have the Y-shape pattern behind the head?
    Nice but damn shame!
