Man gets arm bit off by gator.....

To me this is just plain dumb on his part, who snorkels in alligator habitat anyways? We talked about this at our local scuba shop and guys couldnt get over the guys stupidity for snorkeling where alligators are.

our local newspaper did a story on this and made this guy seem like some kind of hero, said "he walked out from the lake with blood gushing from his missing arm". He was also in the Navy from what the paper said.

Steve Irwin swam with gators and crocs.

Yeah thats true, but when he was swimming with them, he was actually looking for them and knew what they were capable of. Who knows what this guy was doing, he might have seen one and tried to touch or handle it, only he knows. The people at the dive shop said every gator they have seen while diving/snorkeling has swam away from them. So this guy had to do something to provoke the gator.

Your not seriously comparing Steve Irwin to this guy?

    no...no comparison.

Everyone is simply stating how incredibly stupid this person was to be swimming in a gators habitat...well, Irwin did the same thing and much more, did he not?

I have great respect for Steve, for everything he's done. I just think labeling this guy as "a dumbass" is off the wall.
