Arrow How do I breed for temperment?

    Hey all-

The title of the post says my question. But now thinking about it, can I really breed for temperment or does that come with handling from a young age?

I have 2.0.0 mice and Marco is super friendly and very curious. The day I got him he went right up to me and stood on my hand. He loves to be picked up and cuddled and isn't the least be afraid of me. I'd love to try my hand at breeding mice for temperment, so I figure I start with him. Now do I need females that are also as tame and calm as him.

Also does anyone have any good sites on mice and their coat types/genetics. The rat/mouse board I lurk on says that Marco is a satin. I'll try to get a picture of him soon.

    Thanks all.

I dont know about mice, but you can breed for temperment in rats. Something really to look for is ones that don't bite, and aren't shy. The AFRMA is usually a good resource for coats and colors.
