ok i have a project for my self which is to house about 4 or 5 bp's in the same very large tank what i want to know is is it safe to do so if i feed them seperatly by the way the tank in question i am going to build as it will be a walk in tank so really more of a room not a tank already have everything worked out all i need is how many can i keep together at one time? those of you worried i am going to put 4 or 5 in a 55 gallon tank you are very wrong

In theory, it sounds like a decent idea, but it's really just not practical. First off, it will cost so much money on your electric bill to maintain the proper heat and a trememdous amount of effort to keep the humidity at 50%. What are you going to do about cleaning? Take a power hose and spray everything down? It's well known that BP's tend to stress out in too large of an enviroment, so you would have to provide MANY hides, which they will hide in, and thus almost defeat the purpose of having a large 'walk in' cage.
I would be all for this idea if it were for a species like an iguana, or a burm, but not for a BP.

I assume you mean 5 feet square, which would be 5x5. 5 square feet is barely more than the floor area of a 55g tank.

I'm with Purrrfect9 on this. Your idea, while good for some species, is impractical for BP's. Even at the size you're talking, which is a good compromise between small individual tanks and a large group enclosure, it's going to be too much work and not enough space for each animal.

Five square feet or five by five? I wouldn't advocate putting multiple animals in the same enclosure anyhow, but if forced to, I wouldn't put more than two adults in such a small area (5 sqft). Consider that your average, single adult, 41-qt tub has 4.13 square feet of floor space, and you'll realize that your tank isn't really adequate for multiple adult animals that are solitary by nature.

How in the world would you get in there to do maintanance?

I'm not sure your going to find many helpful ideas with your question as most on this site are fairly against housing BP's together in any regards other then breeding.

With the overall well being of the snakes in mind, I'm 100% against this idea. This particular method of keeping BP's is solely for the enjoyment of the owner, and brings up the higher possibility of complications than necessary, in contrast to a smaller, more controlled environment when you can identify any illness to a particular indivual relatively immedietly.

If they were my snakes, it would just not be worth the risk.

No, they're not social animals, and prefer seclusion in tight spaces. When you do see them piled up, it's to establish dominance, not out of friendship.
