Question Why is my Ball python so Timid

Hey im new to this forum and a new snake owner and i think there might be something wrong with my snake

Last week i fed my ball python i have had him for about a month. Then after that he got really jumpy when ever i come up to the cage he darts back. I wonder if hes hurt. Because before i fed him i took him off his branch (he really didnt want to get off) but i picked him up and was holding him my friend had the dead mouse and put it in front of his face and threw it in the cage. I set the snake down and we he got down he snapped and then he ate the mouse. Now hes all jumpy is this normal.

you shouldn't handle him for a few days after he eats. they don't like it and it can cause them to regurgitate. also, there's no reason to take him out before you put the mouse in... and especially no reason to wave it in his face first! that's just asking to get tagged! is this the first time you've fed him?

How big/old is this snake? Teasing a snake like that with a mouse is a good way to get nipped.
