first blood

I just got home from the anaheim expo and noticed at the show when i handled my new addition that it seemed fine nice and active but now that im at home when i went to go put him in his new home he was very stiff and flat. like a pancake im assuming is just because he is still nervous and needs time to acclimate to the new house. but i have never heard of them flattening out there bodies like this is this normal. he is a very sweet snake and just seems wierd that he would be soo comforable and now soo nervous.

How big is your enclosure?

I have a 10 gallon i know i shold use something smaller so i am gonna get some gladware or something or maybe just clutter up the tank alot so it seems smaller. but it was all flat when i took it outta the little tube that they come in from the expo.

I'd go with a smaller enclosure ASAP. Using a rubbermaid style setup will make it easier for you to control the environmental factors (i.e. temp & humidity) that are important in order for a young blood to thrive.

Big enclosures + small bloods = not a good experience, generally speaking.

tiny lol he's a baby. i thought i put that in my original post but reading over it now i see i did not. lol. my bad. i will post some pics in a while trying to get my stupid camera cable to work doh.

your daughter should be on the price is right....

the tank looks good, i can't really tell how big it is though. a good rule of thumb is you want the enclosure to be no smaller then 2/3 the length of your snake. so example: the smallest enclosure a 3 ft ball could live in would be a 2 ft tank. so if the tank is a good size go for it, but it might end up being to small and you'll have to upsize things later.

I didnt throw that fuzzy in there my friend did but i figured i would leave it in for a while if it doesnt come around which im sure it wont its still too nervous then my other snakes get a little snack i guess.

i think a 6 or 16qt will work...make sure you throw some crumpled paper so the tub hight wont stress your blood out.

Let it de-stress a week before feeding.
