    Hatchlings ate; yesss!

Is it me, or does anyone else breathe huge sighs of relief when their hatchlings eat? So far, 6 out of Ginger's 8 hatchlings ate; and tonight for the first time, 3 out of 4 of Bela's ate! Better yet; I started Gin's out on mouse hoppers previously. but tonight, of the 4 that I tried, 3 ate rat fuzzies!
I want them to be eating on either thing, to make it easier for whoever buys them to feed what is best for their situation..
Here's to everyone's hatchlings eating like piggies

My first and only clutch was an amazing one... a poorly planned breeding, last-minute incubator purchase only to have the dam maternally incubate instead, 100% hatch rate, and 100% feeding success on the first try, with rat pups. It was all a really cool experience.

Awesome, Rapture.. I still have 3 out of the 12 that have not eaten yet. But ome of those is Bela's more recent clutch that just shed last week.. I am just waiting them out and enjoying them while they are small and here
LD, your boy is doing great and is a charming little man; I love the ones that eat and eat consistently

    Hi,

I am glad your babies ate!! That is awesome. I have a question for you... did you feed them live hoppers/fuzzies? The reason I ask is because I have a hatchling (hatched 08-09) and she hasn't eaten yet. Any suggestions... I was trying to avoid live and have been trying frozen/thawed. I don't really want to have to raise a hooper. Sorry for hitch hiking this post.

    Re: Hatchlings ate; yesss!

I used live mouse fuzzies before their eyes opened. I am lucky enough to have a local store that regularly gets them in, as i only breed rats, not mice. They are also a nice sized mose because before their eyes open, they are relatively harmless and can't bite like they CAN (!) once those eyes open and they start hopping! But in feeding those larger mice, I just watch until the snake constricts it from a discreet location. They can bite as I found out last week via my own hand!

Gawd, it's so nerve-racking waiting to see which ones eat... out of my 4, one has eaten 5 meals, one has eaten once, and the other two haven't yet. Once again, hoping for the best tonight with mouse fuzzy/hoppers.
