    Could she have RI?

I took my 8 month old female into my student naturalist class to get her a check up with my Herp teacher Mr. McRoberts. I was worried about a popping sound she had been making since i got her but he told me that she was fine. He listened to her lungs and he said they sounded perfect and even complimented me on my Herping husbandry. But i cant help but worry. Kyna has an HUGE appitete and when its time to eat you'd swear I starve her... What a little piggy! She doesnt wheeze, no extra saliva or anything.. the only thing amiss is her last shed was absolutly dreadful and she still has some shed peices in her nose and her heat pits... could that be whats causing the noise?

Another huge problem is I am in the middle of a money crisis because my old boss hasn't paid me a dime of what i worked this summer. he owes me $572 bucks still and out of that i would be able to pay her doctor bills. I have tried everything for a new job but I still havent been able to find a job but i ask everywhere i go. I'm usually a great mommy and this money thing isn't my fault. anyone have any suggestions other than lower humidity and up temps? Thanks so much

    Re: Could she have RI?

Stuck shed on teh nose can apparently cause whistling noises that makes people worry about RI. Other signs of a RI you can look up on the first aid section include fluid/bubbles around mouth, holding head up to make breathing easier, constant yawning etc. It's really hard to tell from this distance and I'm no expert. I think your first step should be to get that shed off - a soak then some gentle peeling should do this. If you clear that shed from over her snout and you still hear noises then there is no way around the fact that she needs a vet visit whatever your financial situation. Sorry. Maybe there is charity or vet school that would be able to help?

    Re: Could she have RI?

It is possible that the whistling is being caused by the retained shed. Also, even if you have an RI I don't believe you're supposed to lower the humidity. If memory serves, you want to treat it similar to a human RI with a raised humidity to help break up the mucus.

I agree you should try the wet pillowcase or soaking in order to get the remainder of the shed off. You may find that solves your problem. I hope it turns out to be nothing more than that.
