    Boy for my girl

I have a female normal python and she was born last december. I am now looking for a suitible mate for her to breed with once she is physically ready. I currently have my eyes on a mojave for her partner but dont know how much is a fair price to pay for it. Does anyone have any tips for a novice breeder. I need something to do for 2 more years while she ages to her 3rd winter.

Just my advice. Wait till your ready to breed to get a male. You may find that in three years your not able to or don't want breed any more. And by then you never know what morphs may be in your price range.

    Re: Boy for my girl

i'd be saving pennies! chances are mojave prices will be a tad lower each preceding year, so if you save up for a pricey snake this year, prehaps next year he'll be a few bucks less ^^
edit: not he, but that morph. i would expect a yearling to cost more than a baby, a 2yr over a 1..etc

to get an idea i browse all the classifieds i can, and investigate breeders websites. i look for what i find to be the most attractive qualities in the snake i want, and then watch for the lowest to highest prices that they're sold at. this year i've seen a few producers of some awfully nice snakes. so i book mark their websites in hopes they'll churn out another stunner in the '08 or '09 season.
i'd note you're in the market for x-morph in x-year to a few breeders you like and see what they currently price at and go from there?

basically just snoop classifieds and get a mean and then tack on a few hundred more to be on the safe side. or.. eh.. i always round up ^^

Yeah but I'm not just going to use them for breeding. I want another ball python cause i have more time now. I was originally going to get 2 ball pythons but then i felt that it would be unfair to the little things so i only got one and now i am ready for another one. Until they are ready to mate i want them as pleasure pets. My snake and i have such a bond its almost sick lol. she trusts me enough to take naps in my lap and even let me touch her head to check her mouth without a fight. the only time i need to watch out when its feeding time....she is a wonderful eater! but i hear you on the prices... thank you so much on your imput i will keep all of it in mind
