    traveling???

Hey guys, I'm driving my python with me to school and its almost a 5 hour drive. Is he going to be ok without his heat sources? Is there anything I can bring with me to give him heat for the trip?

I'd suggest you bag the snake securely in a pillow case or snake bag. Id suggest you get a secure and ventilated plastic container, put some activated instant heat packs in the bottom (sports stores, Walmart, etc. sell them), put a layer of something like an old towel over the heat packs then let the enclosure warm up a bit. Bag your snake in a pillow case or snake bag, securing it so the snake cannot get out. Tuck your bagged snake in and you're all set to travel. Try to keep the container out of any direct sunlight or cold drafts from the vehicle's A/C. That's how we moved our collection when we moved from northern Michigan to Ohio in the cool weather of springtime.

If you have an Acu-Rite, tuck it in the container to monitor the temps during the trip.

Once you arrive make sure the enclosure is all warmed up properly before you put the snake back in it's usual home again.

Do make sure the snake is travelling on an empty belly even if that means you need to skip a that week. I'd also not offer a feeding for a few days to allow the snake to settle back in after the trip.

thanks for the advice, i think im just going to put his tank on the back seat of my truck and take out the stuff that could move around during the car ride and pack in a bunch of those little heat packs.
