    lockable rack?

okay, I'm in the process of getting a few bp's and started to think that maybe a rack system might not be such a bad idea after all. Something about not being pleasing to the eye in my livingroom sort of thing .

But the other thing that came to mind is being able to lock the bins into the rack itself. I have a very curious two year old and almost two month old who will one day soon also be a curious two year old. Anybody ever come across something like that or have ideas on how to "lock" the bins up.

My two year old is not afraid of the corn snakes I have and asks to "play" with them all the time, to which when convenient I gladly let him handle the snakes. But I'm there to supervise this interaction. Just want to prevent him from opening a bin while I'm, lets say in the bathroom, and letting the occupant go wandering or worse, reach in while its in a cranky mood and get bit.

Links, ideas, suggestions, plans.. all are welcome. thanx everyone.

    Re: lockable rack?

i have locks on my rack, but its mostly so the tubs don't slide out, not to lock someone out. my locks are just a piece of metal on a screw the i put on the shelf in the middle of the tub. i just give it a quarter turn and the tub locks in place. if you really want to see it i can take some pictures just let me know.

One of our members, I think it was Tim Bailey, built his own racks with a locking system to keep kiddies out. I'm sure you could easily modify his idea to add to any commercial rack (or build one yourself if you're the handy sort). I remember seeing pictures of it here but darned if I can remember in which thread.

thanx everyone. Yes Monica that did help, what a great idea. And if I purchase a rack system, hubby could easily do that.

I'm glad I could be of service without even lifting a finger to type a word. Let me know if you or hubby has any questions.
