Calling all college students!!
I was wondering what sorts of majors other here are studying? Where you go to school?
I'm about to start my second year at McGill University in Montreal (not at the main campus though, the cool kids study at the environmental campus). My major is Applied Zoology, though I'm putting a focus on entomology.
So far I love love love it there, actually studying the things I love, in a school setting, it's a dream come true. And being around like minded people is amazing. When I'm there, I'm no longer the only crazy bug lady!
Was wondering if perhaps any of the snake lovers here are studying herpetology? My whole life has definitely been a toss-up between entomology and herpetology... but there arent really any good reptile programs in the schools near me, they're mostly out west from what I've heard... I have a feeling I'll stick with the bugs and spiders for study, and the reptiles as a hobby.
This semester is going to be insane... biochem, genetics, natural history of vertebrates, introduction to fungi, and evolution & systematics. Woohoo!

I'm studying Accounting... It goes in the family. On my dad's side I have 3 aunts that are certified public accountants and on my mother's side my aunt is also an accountant. Not a CPA though. This is my second year so my classes are still not challenging for me. I have English 2, Speech, Financial Accounting, and Psycology. 13 credits in total! ;-) Right now I'm going to MDC then I'm gonna transfer to either UM or Nova Southern University Can't wait!

Going into my first year at University of North Florida at the end of the month! I'm going for physics and engineering, though I was disappointed that I have to do a prereq before I can get into any real physics classes. I was really looking forward to it, too!!! Anyways, my plan is either next year or the year after I want an apprenticeship with NASA if I can get it, and I'll see where I go from there. ^-^ Congrats and good luck everybody!
XDD actually...herpetology never occurred to me until my dad suggested it to me at dinner!! But I love physics too, so either way it's all good. Good luck with college everyone!!!

Re: Calling all college students!!
Something I learned in college... everything changes! Lol... I'm originally from Indiana but went to school to OSU. Took myself completely out of my comfort zone, and I was the only one in my graduating class to leave the state. In any case, I started out studying AeroEngineering. Two quarters in I was struggling pretty hard core... decided engineering wasn't for me and changed majors to English, focus in Creative writing, with a minor in Aviation Business.
I just graduated in December with my undergrad BA, but definitely planning on going back. Longterm plans are to get my PhD in English, Creative Writing and be a crazy English professor LOL.
But I agree... I consider my college years the best years of my life. Every day was a learning experience. I met some of the most accepting, most wonderful people ever! I'm so glad I took the chance on going out of state for school... it's a decision I will never, ever regret!
Oh yeah... GO BUCKS!

Wow.... Congrats! I can't wait to finish already.. Don't get me wrong I love going to college but waking up at 5:30 am every other day then wake up at 6:30 the other days is too crazy for me. On the 6:30 days I wake up at 6 am thinking I'm late! Can't deal with that!

5 months shy of a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree, Multimedia. Although i've learned everything media related, including graphic design, video production, 3D modeling & animation, and web site design, I prefer web site development over anything and everything. Making things work on the WWW is pretty much what drives me to get up in the morning....call me crazy, but I call it a passion. geek? yes. Nerd? yes. Proud? yes.

Re: Calling all college students!!
I am about to start my second year at Valparaiso University in Indiana. I am majoring in mechanical engineering and math. So far I have 52 credits so I think I am well on my way to my majors. My classes for this fall are ME 253 (mechanical engineering), MATH 240 (statistics), MATH 234 (differential equations), GE 109 (mechanics-statics), and ECE 281 (electrical engineering). ME 253 and ECE 281 also have labs with them. That all adds up to 18 credits so keeping up with that and the 20 hours of swimming practice a week I am sure to be quite busy. Wish me luck!

Oh man, I hear you! Lol... the last two years were nuts! I was working two part time jobs almost 50 hours a week---trying to pay rent and keep me and all the scale-kids fed---plus going to class full time... ugh! And trying to have a life! But, really, I wouldn't change a minute of it. It was such an awesome learning experience.
Thanks for the congrats!
