    Length of Time to Shed

This is a question about some babies I had hatch on the 24th. Only ONE normal female has shed, and has even eaten twice. She's growing like a weed on Miracle Grow. But the other 6 hatchlings haven't shed or even gone blue yet. They are being kept on moist paper towels and have a water bowl. Should I stick them all together in the same tub?

Just wondering if this was normal, or if I need to start charging them rent or something...

I would start charging them rent!!

Some snakes will just take a bit longer to shed than others. Have you tried to offer them some food yet?

Re: Length of Time to Shed

I was wondering: how soon is good to start offering food? So it is OK to offer before they shed?
Thanks Becky for bringing this up! I did not know that you should feed before their sheds.

Re: Length of Time to Shed

I offer them food after about 10 days even if they haven't shed. I've had a few this year that seemed to forget they were supposed to shed and didn't get around to it until more than a month after they hatched.

    Wow.
Mine have all gone blue now; it was almost frightening to open their communal tub and see a pile of snakes that looked pretty clear-colored yesterday, be all blue now.

Re: Length of Time to Shed

I agree with Xdeus. I tend to offer food within 7 - 10 days after hatching. Some will eat; some won't.

Re: Length of Time to Shed

Yep, two of the pastel females have already eaten. I didn't offer to the others. One of the female normals is already shed out and has taken 2 meals. Fat little thing. I'll have some mouse hoppers soon so everyone will get a go at one.
Thanks everyone, it's good to know that they are just trying to give me a coronary
