    Need some help

Ok, basically what I need to know, is what should the inside of an egg look like on day 50. I had a bad clutch (2 eggs - 3 slugs). One of the good eggs went bad quite a while back, and when I opened it up it was just a solid mass inside. The last good egg in the incubator had loads of good strong veins since the beginning, but about 5 days ago the veins all dissapeared, and I can not see no movement in the egg at all. I decided to cut the egg to see what was going on inside. What should the inside of this egg look like?? I am pretty sure that it has gone the same as the other one and has just turned into a hard mass inside, but I dont really know what I am looking for. Is the mass that I can see inside this egg part of the snake, or should the snake be visible at the bottom of the egg this far into incubation??

Anyone have any pics of cut eggs at day 50ish so I can compare what it should look like??

    Cheers

with temps around 87 deg or higher, you should see a snake. maybe not 100% developed or colored up, but it should resemble a snake, not a blob or mass.

why cut at day 50, just curious.

By day 50, you should be able to see some pattern of the snake when candled with a bright light. If you already cut it, you should definately be able to see a snake in there, but day 50 is a bit earlyish to cut in my opinion. This was my first year of breeding, and I waited until day 60. It depends on you temps too; what temperature have you kept them at? Just be sure that if you do cut, you are not rupturing the clear membrane of the sac that the snake is in. If it is not ready to breathe air, this could kill it.

Well, I'm new to breeding but I had 4 clutches hatch this year and I learn from them.
I know in 50 days of incubation you would see some movement and veins.
I would never cut an egg open if it don't smell or look bad or passed 60 days. I had an egg laid and it looked great, a few days later it dent right in the middle real bad. I added a little water because a breeder told me to and the dent should pop back out, but it didn't. So I kept an eye on it and 57 days passed and it hatched out. If you candle them from the start and see veins then your good, if you don't see no veins and a black mass then its no good, but I still would try to incubate it by it self. But thats just me, I'm new and I like to learn and see what happens for my self.

    Good luck!!

I was going to say too.. by day 50-ish, healthy eggs will start to dent a little. I could even see mine move a little if the snake inside was shifting around.

Well I only cut this early because I am pretty sure that the egg does not have anything living in there anyway and curiosity took over. I dont normally slit my eggs at all. I checked the egg again last night and can not see nothing inside which resembles a snake. Think this was just a very bad clutch that was not supposed to make it.

    Cheers all
