FlexWatt & Dimmer
Alright, so a couple questions as I purchased some 3" flexwatt today along with a dimmer and a 6' extention cord.
1) The flexwatt is run on my racks( one continuous strip) I have removed the female portion of the extention cord and striped the wires. They were then soddered to the flexwatt.
2) I have set the dimmer up where I want it, but my question is how is the dimmer hooked up properly to the extention chord? to i cut one of the wires miday on the extention chordand connect each of those ends to each of the black wires from the dimmer? which would leave one of the wires from the extention chord fully intact from the flexwatt to the outlet?
I looked for a previous thred by all the ones i find the pictures dont show up for me. So if anyone could describe or post pics that would be much appreciated.

Re: FlexWatt & Dimmer
Hi.
Just go to walmart and get a 4 dollar dimmer. You should have your extension cord wired to your flexwatt so that you'd be able to plug it in and run full blast right?
Well you then plug that end into your dimmer. Then your dimmer into the wall. If that's not the case. Go to wal mart and buy one for 4 dollars haha.
It can be done other ways. Like the way I'm thinking your talking of doing. You'd have to follow the instructions with the dimmer for that.
Or just get the dimmer that's set up to have a plug plugged into it. That's my 2 pennies.

have you thought about getting a thermostat? they are 100x better then dimmers in my opinion.

Here you go (this is a write up on another thread; I hope it's ok to post the link. If it's not, then delete it and forgive me mods): http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/sho...light=rheostat
But yeah, a thermostat is wayyyyyy better. But if rheostat is all you can do, then it can work, just try to keep temps in your house as steady as possible.

Re: FlexWatt & Dimmer
Thanks everyone for your 2 cents, much appreciated. Well I tried to run the wiring like that link said last night, I found that one too, but when i wired it up for some reason or another it wouldnt give power to the flexwatt, so then I had one of the types that plugs into the outlet directly so I tried that and and waaabamm a temporary fix untilI get the helix in another month or so. Messed around with the temps all last night and early this morning, I have them holding steady at 94 Warm side and 83 cool side. Again thanks for all the help guys.
