    props for petco.... for once!

i noticed about 3 weeks ago that they had 3 small enclosures for ball pythons. each enclosure only had one snake in it. i decided not to get excited because they could've just sold the others that were sharing the enclosure... well, i've been back in there a couple times since and still all separate!

has anybody else noticed this or is it just this one?

At the local PetCo, there are 10-12 snakes in a 10-15 gallon enclosure. They are priced down to $29.99 each just to get rid of them, it's really sad to be honest.

I was just at our local petco about 2 days ago. There were about 5 of them, all in a 10 gallon enclosure, looking extremely skinny...

That is really sad about the conditions they keep them in. It makes you want to break the glass and scream, "RUN!! Run away my pretties! Run away and never come back!!" *Cackles like a witch and runs out of strore with all the pythons in hand*

Luckily, none of the petcos or petsmarts aound here sell ball pythons, YET... *Knocks on wood*

I was reading Pro Exotics FAQ, and it said that stores keep their animals in bad conditions on purpose, as a tactic to get "rescuers" to buy.

Sounds about right. They certainly do it with their other animals, so why not the reptiles as well. And I always thought it was ignorance that made the managers put multiple animals in one enclosure, sometimes multiple species even... I should have known

Mine is decent. they do keep them in the same enclosure, but its big. They are all fat snakes! Well fed. healthy looking. If they ave room, the do separate them.

yeah, they've always kept a mess of them in a big tank at mine. they've always looked healthy but still.... but now the big tank has been replaced with three small ones. i wonder why? i was thinking (hoping) maybe petco policy changed... obviously not!
