    3/8" Rack Gap Space

I finished my rack for my boas today and I found out the gap is 3/8". My old rack is less than 1/8". Should I be ok. All my amaralis are 2-3 years old and my female ball is an adult basically. I haven't put in flexwatt yet. Will I have to drill my tubs with the gap space.

    Re: 3/8" Rack Gap Space

I may have found a solution, I installed the flexwatt like normal, but I'm thinking of putting down 2 3" sections of eggcrate on top of the flexwatt and on the other side. This would save wear on the flexwatt and raise the tub. The eggcrate is 1/4" thick. For those of you who don't know what it is, heres a pic. I'm worried though that I won't a warm enough hot spot. I'm using 11" flexwatt.

Can you put that down first and put the flex on the crate?

For a decent sized bp, 3/8" is probably nothing to worry about. But the egg crate idea sounds good to me, but I agree, put the flexwatt on the egg crate. If it was below it, you'd have to run the flexwatt a lot higher to get the same temps in the tub than if it was directly under the tub.

    Re: 3/8" Rack Gap Space

All my tubs are 3/8" (all 20+) with no escapes yet (these are for adult and sub adult balls). So I don't think you have anything to worry about.

As for the egg crate you will loose a lot of heat if you put it between the flex and the tub...I wouldn't use it for this reason...only with thinking it isn't needed for the gap either.

    Re: 3/8" Rack Gap Space

I talked to Beanfarm and they said that it is fine to have the flexwatt underneath the eggcrate. I don't have to worry about ambients since I have a space heater that keeps them up. The eggcrate should keep off wear and tear on the flexwatt and shouldn't have trouble getting the hotspot up to temp.
