Re: Road rage against reptiles
Yes, I see that in men a lot. One of the management people at work was out in the plant chasing a young mouse around the water cooler. When I asked what he was doing he replied, "I just want to kill something."
The mouse did get away

Re: Road rage against reptiles
almost three per cent of drivers, the majority of them men, swerve to intentionally steamroll snakes and turtles on the road.
I am trying to diss guys as a whole, but this statement isn't suprising. Men have to be "macho"....although they should just admit that they're scared of them.

My ex husband picked up box turtles regularly and set them well into the grass, and my current partner once woke up a mouse sunbathing on the sidewalk, and coaxed a young bird off the street. I love it.
(BTW, all three of these men get along quite well. My partner and my ex are very close friends, and my first BF is friends with both of them.)
Some males are redeemable.
Lucky you! My first BF, well, he just didn't really care either way. If they got out of way, they didn't get hit, if not, they did but he didn't go out of his way to hit things. My ex husband was one of the "macho" ones... but karma got him. He went to swirve while on his motorcycle to hit a small snake but the snake moved and my ex ended up being the one who kissed the pavement... and totaled his bike.
My husband, however, is the type who will stop his car in the middle of traffic to move an animal, doesn't matter what it is, be it a snake, dog, bird or tarantula, out of the road.

Re: Road rage against reptiles
Twice now I've stopped to move a turtle, and had a jerk in a pick-up truck deliberately swerve out of his way to hit it, while I was clearly walking towards it. One was a huge pond turtle that had made it across four lanes of busy traffic, and this guy actually drove onto grass to hit her...chunks went flying.
There was another time I was on my way to a formal dance and there was one up against the highway divider. So picture me, hiking up my skirts so I can climb over the cement divider and clip-clopping across the highway in heels to get her to the pond she was heading for. My boyfriend knows to pull the car over if I see one...I don't think he'd do it on his own though. Stray cats and dogs are a given.

Hehe... gotcha I'm glad at least that your current husband goes out of his way like that.

Hehe... I can see that, especially since I did something similar once. Tho not on a highway, I did rescue a poor horned lizard caught on the median of a desert road while on the way to the opera.
