caution and savanna both ate great!!! caution was just that as usual but hes hanging onto his meal right now (it was a fighter too!) i wasnst sure he was going to eat as he is getting ready to shed (his first one with us blue eyes as indicator) savanna has already come out since her meal to get a drink (girl wastes no time eating!) their temps are exactly the same, humidity is a bit high (still in low 80s most days) but otherwise they are wonderful!!!

so again i thank all of you for your wonderful input and advice, im so greatful we have gotten them the way they belong.. what a difference its made! i feel like a scientist or something with all the technicalities of it all.. to think my mil kept her ball outside, fed him twice a month and thats it eeek!!

Absolutely excellent job Ashley! This is what real dedication, a willingness to learn and do what's best for snakes is all about! Can't wait to hear about the nice shed to come (you know we especially like pics of freshly shed snakes around here....hint..hint)

of course!!! im thinking about doign their first "outside" pics as soon as hes done shedding. im so paranoid about them getting mites though

You could hit the dollar store and grab one of those big pure white wash buckets (I can't think what they are called this early LOL). Their sort of square, fit in a sink...I have one for washing floors...fits my wide mop. You could get great natural light pictures with a nice plain background and the snake won't be exposed to anything in your grass.

It's probably fine anyways but if your grass is treated with anything or recently been fertilized or you do have problems with ticks in your area of the country, I'd be very careful.

We used to take the snakes outside at our old house in the country but once we noticed the mole holes everywhere we decided a ball python escaping down one, was NOT a good idea LOL.

well, lovely subtropical habitat here has ticks year-round and BAD... im not sure of treatment of the grass (pesticides or otherwise, i work for a pest company i know how harmful it is to little critters) and its a condo complex so there are many other dogs walking on it from other buildings (Were the only ones not allowed to have "pets") we are probably better off taking him to the park to do pictures with them, some of the equestrian parks aren't treated with pesticides due to them (obviously) being for the horses. i do photography and have done mirror pics and plain white, i was thinking more "natural" pictures
