Securing Tub Lid
For those of you who use tubs with the lids, what do you use to keep the lid down on the tub in the middle? Do you use clips or straps of some sort? If so where do you get these?

Re: Securing Tub Lid
you just have to use whatever works for you. For me the cheaper the better! I have a year old albino burmese in a tub (LARGE tub) with latches on the ends and was concerned, as you are, about him pushing it open in the middle, so what I did was to take the spare 17" computer monitor I have sitting around and put it on top of it. If he can get that moved, I would be seriously scared of him!! I've seen books, cinder block halves whatever has weight to it used. Another thought would be to find the right length bungee cord with hooks on it and wrap it around and hook it to itself. That should keep it secure.

Re: Securing Tub Lid
I used some binder clips, the medium sized to keep the lids on when I used that kind of set up. 4 on each corner.

Re: Securing Tub Lid
You can buy large black binder clips from any office supply store, C clamps work well too, or any clamp or strap that keeps that lid secure but comes off easily for feeding/cage maintenance.

i used these white universal clips sold at Bed Bath and Beyond. They work well on sterilite tubs

Re: Securing Tub Lid
I use 2 heavy dutie rubber bands, one on each side, and then 2 binderclips. On 6 qt tubs.
now for the big tubs, 4 binder clips will work!

Books work great. Especially since I don't have enough book shelves.

Re: Securing Tub Lid
I use both binder clips of different sizes and bungee cords...it depends on the tub and the snake. Kaa escaped from the tub w/the snaps on the ends, and 4 clips down ea. side (total of 8), but with Hera in that tub now, I only need one bungee cord.
CeCe's tub, the cord runs the length, and six small clips are on the sides. For Wrigleys tub, I have 4 LARGE clips on either side. The Rubbermaid tubs with the smaller balls, I'm not using clips at all. They're tight enough & the snakes are still small enough.
