What Happens in the egg with recessive twins when...
One is not visable for the morph and the other is? Why wouldn't both the twins be an albino for example? Does anyone know what happens during the development in the egg to cause this?

Re: What Happens in the egg with recessive twins when...
I've seen pics of a pastel and normal twins sharing an egg. I don't know all the technical ways of describing it, but I don't think the eggs form the same way we think of them in mammals. In a mammal, when a single fertilized egg splits, it becomes identical twins. I don't think that's what is going on when you get twins out of one egg in a snake. More like fraternal twins...two embryos that get fertilized separately, but share the same "sac" as they develop.

I'm curious, guess I'll have to research it and see if I find anything. Shame there isn't more info readily available about snakes.

LOL....if you saw the size and scope of Dave Barker's personal herpetological library, you wouldn't think there was so little info available. It just has to be sought with a little more determination, is all.
