I'm about to get a "yard snake"
I used Snake Measurer for the first time today. What a great tool!
Snakey (who I like to refer to as my "giant 30 inch python") saved me from being a liar by measuring a incredible 31.4"! When he makes 36" I'm going to start calling him my "yard snake". I have high hopes he's going to give the house yard stick a run for its money.
Enough sillyness!
So it was estimated that Snakey was born around Sept 06 so he's coming up on his first birthday soon. If he makes it to, say, 33" by 1 year then could I estimate his growth pattern over the next couple of years? Do BP's grow at all after 3 years?
1.0 Normal BP - "Snakey"
1.0 Jungle carpet python - "Chewbacca" aka "Chewie"
0.1 Olive python - "Cleopatra" aka "Cleo"
0.0.1 Corn - "Husker"
1.0 Veiled Chameleon - "Kermit"

Ive never heard of them stopping growing after a certain number of years. Think they just stop growing after they "max out". And I know my girl has been growing at a pretty steady rate (bout 5 inches a shed, sheds after little over a month), I wouldn't be surprised if it started to slow down a bit the bigger she gets and the closer she gets to her max length.

5 inches a shed    !
Actually, I'm a new BP owner and I've only had "her" for 2 sheds. I notice maybe only 1-2 inches total growth. She was 35" when I got her, she's maybe 37 or so. What do you feed yours? How frequent? Do you wait 1 or 2 days after she poop before feeding again ?

Re: I'm about to get a "yard snake"
I'm feeding two small adult mice per week. I was feeding him alot to fatten him up but now that he is fattened up I'm debating whether or not to just hold the meal size constant and let him grow into it or to switch to 10 day feeds like my vet suggested.
He got sick for a bit and I think that slowed him down - he didn't shed for like 6 or 8 weeks. He's all better now so I'm hoping he picks back up his previous growth pace of about 2" per month for a little while longer.

I got her back in March, she shed soon after I got her and I measured her at 20" then. Since then shes shed twice (all in one piece, eyecaps included, beautiful) with the last one in the beginning of July. She measured then at 30". Ive been feeding her once a week. I switch between one mouse and two depending on how she looks after she eats (i.e. looking around for more) or how long it takes her to go after the mouse when feeding (does she strike immediately or does it take a bit). Usually its a 2 one week/1 the next routine. I usually give her 48 hours after feeding till I handle her again. And as for pooping she doesn't poop after every feeding.

Its probably more like a month and a half between sheds. I really need to start writing the dates/measurements down.
