I've signed up for Fall Semester at college and will hopefully be able to keep my hours at work, but with this new schedule, I'll have Tuesdays off almost all day which leaves me a good number of hours to twiddle my thumbs (when I'm not cleaning, doing laundry, ect.) so I was thinking of volunteering at the Rockwood Nature Center. I met a lady at work today that works there and she says they are always glad to accept new volunteers. I'm going by there tomorrow to get a volunteer application. It should be a blast getting to help care for snakes, turtles, frogs, ect. They have some venemous, (sp) but I am well aware that I would not be allowed to care for those species due to safety. Not to mention I have no intention of dealing with venemous (sp). I'm too aware of the damage a bite can inflict.
Maybe I'll take my camera along with me tomorrow and snap some pictures. Has anyone else worked at/volunteered at a wildlife center? What kinds of things do you get to do and what kinds of things do you learn?
