Empty 40g Breeder...
Yesterday my 5 y.o. Beardie passed away. He was in a 40 gallon breeder, and I'm debating whether or not to toss it. Should I keep it so that when my BP grows up he can use it? Or am I better off just upgrading him to a 20L when he's an adult... (he's in a 15 now)
Thanks for the click.

Re: Empty 40g Breeder...
Sell the 40 gallon breeder and put the money towards saving for a plastic commmercial display cage for when your ball python gets older. It'll be worth it in the long run ... glass just makes everything 10 times harder than it needs to be when it comes to ball python husbandry.
If you're dead set on glass tanks, sell the 40 gallon breeder and put the money towards a thermostat if you don't already have one.
Hope this helps.

Re: Empty 40g Breeder...
I have a Ranco, and I'm very satisfied with that. Are there actually plastic commmercial display cages? (Unless you are referring to those stackable hubs; I don't think i'd get into those anyway, until I get older and start breeding)
If there is, please send a link, also how would I be able to sell my 40 Gallon Breeder. Is there some sort of local state-wide classified that I can use? Craigslist? (free advertisement for them - had to say it)

I think Adam is referring to nice display cases made by Animal Plastics or Boaphile, or businesses like that.

Those sizes are too big for BP's. Do most people use tubs? I noticed after a few days that a gradient of 85 is pretty hard to get. Maybe a tub is my best bet.

Re: Empty 40g Breeder...
it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. People who want their enclosures to look nice and appealing to themselves and visitors will usually go with a tank or an Animal Plastics/Boaphile. there's nothing wrong with that.
If you need something that's a lot easier to maintain, then go with tubs. They work just fine.
