for an incubator-helix or herpstat
Which one? Im almost ready, just need my tstat. I am thinking herpstat, it is a little cheaper. The helix has a higher wattage but this will only be for the incubator. So which should I get?

It doesn't matter...they are both awesome (I own both).
I have a herpstat on my incubator only because it reads in tenths of a degree (and I am anal that way) but since it never really moves it doesn't really matter.

I have both. Can't go wrong either way. I started to switch to all Helix a few months ago because I like them a lot but I incubated this season with Heprstat and had a stable incubator and 100% hatch rate.

Jamie, why did you like Helix better, any particular reason? Thanks guys!

Re: for an incubator-helix or herpstat
i use both, on the bator i trust helix a little more. i had one of the first gen herpstats fail on me. i've only had one herpstat fail and it was repaired quickly and have had no other problems. i've never had a helix fail. imo, helix is time tested a little more, and the housing feels heavy and built sturdier.

If you get the Helix 1500 watt system or the Helix basic system they will both measure in tenths of a degree ... not that it matters at all, but if that's your preference, Helix can certainly accomodate you.
I don't know if one is better than the other (Helix or Herpstat) ... to me, it's just a matter of personal preference ... I use Helix stats because I've been using them since long before Herpstats were available (10+ years) and they've never failed me ... for me, they are time tested and 100% reliable ... no reason for me to even think about another product.
I really like the auto-dialer feature on my Helix's ... not sure if Herpstat does that or not ... but if the incubator every gets below 88 or above 90, I get a call on my cell and a message indicating what is going on. I use the same feature in my snake rooms to monitor temps while I'm not in the shop.
Hope this helps.

Yes they both measure in tenths of a degree the herpstat just shows it while the Helix only shows 2 digits. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

The Helix Basic System and the Helix 1500 watt systems both measure and display temps in tenths of a degree ... The Helix DBS-1000 and DBS-1000G measure to the tenth of a degree and display whole degrees.
