Live plants won't usually do well in a cage with a snake...especially a heavy snake like a BP. They'll crush the plants just by cruising around. Silk or plastic plants are the way to go. You should be able to find those in any store that sells hobby/craft supplies. I'd suggest WalMart over here, but I have no idea what the equivalent is in UAE.

Also remember that if you want to put fake plants in your enclosure the more will be in your enclosure the more you will have to clean and disinfect on a regular basis.

Good point. I used to keep all my vivs and tubs very fancy with tons of decorations. For only a few snakes it was fine, but once the collection started growing, it was a PITA to clean all that foliage.

But I would definately use silk plants, they're cheap and easy to clean and are pretty durable.

I want to add one more thing to this thread. As we've seen in other threads, your BP is currently undergoing a great deal of stress. While you need to make some changes to the enclosure to make sure the minimum requirements for health are met...I would refrain from making any unnecessary changes until the snake is completely settled in and has been eating for a couple of months at least.

Yes, the greenery can make it look "pretty"...but the snake doesn't care how it looks...it just wants to feel secure. And every unnecessary change to its environment is a step backwards.

While I agree that keeping the snake as stress free is vital, adding some foliage and plants could possibly help it feel more secure by providing additional hides under leaves and providing more cover. Just a thought...

Great point Deb! I prefer not to use anything in my enclosures that will increase the amount of time I already spend each week cleaning. However, I can understand that people with display type cages might want some plants. Plastic or silk is the way to go!

WalMart is taking over the world... if they don't have a retail outlet there, they probably have an underground place where they are planning their domination.

    Re: plant's

I understand the desire to plant your snake's enclosure!

After considering it for some time I realized that the real trouble with live plants is they require full spectrum lighting at much higher levels than you would provide normally in a snake enclosure. This generates a surprising amount of heat - even if you use flurescent bulbs. This means that on warm days you will have to monitor your temps, and turn the lights off if they go too high.

Also what was mentioned about BPs is true - they crush real plants very efficiently

I grow a lot of plants in terrariums...the heat issue is something I deal with every day pretty much. I use fans on thermostats mostly to control heat but it ends up being somewhat complicated.
