    Hedgehog

I don't have any decent pics yet, but I just picked up this little guy from the pet store. I'll let him get settled in his cage first before I take him out and take some better pics.

Anyone have any advice on how to handle and pick them up?

    LOL,

    Now that's just plain cute!!

Do you guys have those in the wild over there as well? We used to have loads of them out the back door at my parents house - mind you they were flea ridden little grumpy boots.

    Hi,

So what size do they get to - the wild ones over here get to a little over a foot long I think.

Is that an albino or are all the african ones that coloration? Ours are dark with brindled spines (I think thats the word).

It's just one of the normal colors for this type. These are much smaller than those european ones, not sure how big they get but I think like 5-8 inches.

    This one is 11 weeks

Cup them from the sides. That way, you get belly instead of spines.

    Re: Hedgehog

what's his temperament like? the one i used to have (looong time ago) would very rarely relax. like ladyohh said, scoop from the sides. be careful though because if you have fingers on the belly and he rolls up... not fun! lol. but for the mostpart, as long as you're careful and expect the prick it doesn't really hurt. after a while, you won't even notice. one thing i didn't like about them is that they are pretty messy. they aren't particular about where they poop so if they go in their bed, they're gonna be a mess! lol. i used to bathe mine regularly with mild cat shampoo.

anyways, congrats and good luck! btw... they only get to be like 6 or 7 inches long.
