    Check out the new Pied!

It does look a lot like a pied Ball, doesn't it?

So would that be considered a Hebra or a Zorse?

    My vote is for Zorse...

I'm really amazed at how the pattern turned out. Usually you would expect an amalgam of the two breeds like the lion/tiger, but this one really does resemble a piebald.

That looks so totally photoshopped! But since it's an AP photo, I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt.

Seriously, that is really fascinating! I wonder if any others turned out like that?

The term came from horses to start with.

Re: Check out the new Pied!

I remember a zebra hybrid being born at the Toronto Zoo years ago (it was an accidental mating). Cute little thing with only stripes on it's four legs. Here's a link I found on zebra hybrids and apparently there is a thing called "The American Zebra hybrid/Bloodstock Registry".

Re: Check out the new Pied!

I wonder if it is handleable; trained to lead, etc. like a horse.. or if it is treated like a wild donkey that'd be in a zoo exhibit.. it does have a halter on, which makes me hope that it is handleable.. It might be built too lightly built for riding, maybe? But it is still young..
