Second Language???
So in my line of work I deal with a lot of people that speak Spanish. So as a kind of fun I decided I would learn Spanish. After talking with a couple of people I got the Rosetta Stone: Latin American Spanish.
Let me just tell you. This thing is incredible. Theres no English spoken at all. No translations to learn no English to Spanish flip flop. At first I was like how is this going to work but then they show you images of things like a ball and a plane and a car and a boy then it highlights the item and says the word for that item. Then it gets you to pick them out and moves on.
It adds new items and mixes them in with the old ones you have seen. Then it moves on.
With no English spoken I can listen to a voice with no text and no images after 20 minutes and pick the item out of a group of ten.
It will teach you to understand, speak, type and even read and write in your chosen language I am really excited.
You basically learn to think your a new language it freaking great.
Anyone seriously looking to learn a second language get this its worth the money.

I had my doubts but I am here to tell you you will be thinking in Spanish in 15 minutes I still have a hard time believing that in 20 minutes I knew what they meant when they said "a boy standing on the airplane" or "a woman riding a horse"..I really suggest it if your wanting to learn a second.
It teaches like you would a child flash card style.

Re: Second Language???
I'll be really interested in hearing how well you retain what you learn and how much of it you're able to make use of. I'll have to remember to ask you about it in a month or two to see if you stuck with it.
Mind if I ask how much the program cost?

Daniel I have tried others even classes and this is by far easier and more use full. None of this memorization stuff.. You hear it then see it. It would be like having some one tell you the word every time you pointed to something. Very easy.
Totally recommend it

Re: Second Language???
I've been looking at that for a while myself. I took a few German classes in college but didn't really advance as quickly as I wanted to. They had a Rosetta Stone kiosk in the local mall last Christmas and I've been toying with the idea of trying it out ever since. I'm glad to hear that it's working out so well for you. What kind of system requirments do you need? I think they include a headset with a microphone with the software? What kind of sound card do you need?

Re: Second Language???
Hey Ed...I agree it is some great software...I used it to learn Cantonese and Mandarin (as I travel to China all the time). It is pricey but I haven't found anything better out there.
Great Choice.
