Does she want to incubate them? She has to remove the eggs and wash the snake off. It will possibly eat then. She can do maternal incubation if she wants. Do a search on the topic for more info and tips. It would really help if your friend could find a computer with internet access so we can help her directly.
    lots of snakes

    Re: ball python laid eggs

It might help also if you can tell us where you friend is located. There may be a member close who could help out. Letting the snake incubate the eggs herself is OK, but the temps and humidity are going to have to watched carefully.

Hopefully someone with experience using maternal incubation will respond.

Also an incubator could be built fairly easy ... a couple links for building simple ones:

http://www.glassreptiles.com/articles/incubator.html (Hope this is OK Jamie)

    http://www.turtlecare.net/incubato.htm

    http://www.froggieb.com/ReptileMisc.html#incubat

The eggs should be OK in with her until an incubator can be bought/built, you might want to have your friend mist the cage a couple times a day (Not the eggs!!!) to keep humidity up until then.

Ball Python eggs should be incubated at 88-90 degrees. You want a nice stable temp that doesn't fluctuate all over the place. As far as humidity, within the egg box it is going to be close to 100% when incubation medium is mixed properly. I can't say I have ever checked the humidity percentage though.

since this is a surprise and you weren't planning on being a breeder you might consider trying to go the natural route (could be cheaper). Do a search for "maternal incubation" on this site.

I asked a bit about this question a while back. This thread has a good discussion and some references.

Rachel, where are you guys located? I hope she does her research and learns how to incubate them...but in case funds are tight and it looks like that may not be an option, one option may be to seek out a person who is experienced in your area and can handle a clutch of eggs right now.
