I would take him in to a qualified herp vet. Sounds like a possible respiratory infection.

    Re: weird breathing

    Hi,

Do you hear this all the time? does he yawn a lot and , if you look inside his mouth, can you see any mucus? Does he sit with his mouth open for extended periods?

Are there any other symptoms you have noticed as well?

It's obviously impossible for us to diagnose exctly over the internet but if you think there is somethign wrong then a vet visit is probably a good idea to check for problems.

All the questions should allow people to help you easier.

    Re: weird breathing

he never yawns or sits with his mouth open it looks normal inside i just keep hearing the sound as he breathes and thats it and i was thinking that he possibly a ri. We dont really have a vet that specializes in herps in our area do you think a normal vet would know enough to do anything and if so how do they treat that. thank you

    Re: weird breathing

    Hi again,

Do you hear the sound all the time - even when he's sitting quietly in his cage?

Is there any sign of "pouching" under his throat?

Any chance he is shedding? (as that can sometimes make them whistle a bit).

Only thing I can think on the vet situation is asking if anyone on the board lives near you and could recomend anyone, or asking the vet to go look it up and see if he feels comfortable with his level of expertise?

I dont know if there is anyone on this list anywhere near you?

It might even be an idea to see if anyone local to you would be more able to look at him ( thinking shops or zoo's who might also be able to suggest a vet)?

    Re: weird breathing

i hear it purty much all the time and there are no appearances that worry me

Thank you for the list of people though the closest one was about 25 miles away but i might just go anyhow.

The temp is usually bout 90 on one side and 80 on the other and the humidity is bout 50 to 60 percent.

    Thank you

it may be just a piece of skin in the snakes noistril after the last shed.but,if you are worried then a herp vet would be the way to go.
