I have a one-year old BP, female, available for adoption by a competent, experienced python owner. There will be no charge, and I will include a big glass tank set-up if desired.
She is a sweet-tempered snake, still fairly shy, wholly non-aggressive. Until recently (see below) she was a very reliable eater, never missing a meal even when shedding.
I am one of those dumb bastards who gave in to his son's request for a snake believing that a python would be easy to care for, and who turns out not to be up to the challenge.
Smaug developed a burn on her abdomen from an under-tank heat pad (being used in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and with advice I received from experienced folks), and was handled infrequently enough for this to become a real serious problem before anyone noticed. She is still recovering from the injury now; after a vet visit I am giving her daily antibiotic shots and applying Sulfa cream to her abdomen; she has had to be tube-fed once during this process and it may need to happen again, as she appears (as of today) to be refusing food.
I really want to see her go to someone who both cares about her suffering and has enough experience to know how to help her through recovery. I am flying blind here, and also hitting a busy time in my business which isn't letting me spend as much time monitoring her as might be useful. I am pretty worried about her, and really hope someone can step in and give her the home she by rights ought to have.
Someone please help!
