Yesterday I took the whole gang for a "sexing clinic" at my vet. He had a few tech girls that were really interested and I wanted to reconfirm the sexes on my snakes as well as learn how to probe myself. I was definitely the highlight of the day at the vet's office. My first snake Autumn, was probed a female when she was younger, but now after probing again it turns out she was a he. A little disappointed but he was my first snake and will always have a home with me. Lustro was by far the hardest snake to probe, proving that he indeed is one strong, wiggley, studly male as per the vet. So my group now contains 3 girls and 3 boys.

I was talking to my vet about why he chooses not to pop snakes and he explained the risks of permantely popping out a hemi-penis or damaging the sex organs. I know everyone pretty much pops around here, has anyone had any of the problems my vet was talking about? While I know it is possible to injure the snake during popping; if done right is there really a concern in harming the snake?
