Anyone here go to Hamburg show?

Just got back a little while ago. Picked up a female het. albino BCI that is currently settling into her new home. I was supposed to have had an order of small rats being held for me by classic dums, but that didn't happen so luckily another vendor had some really large frozen mice that will hold me over for a bit.

If space and finances weren't limited I would have walked out of there with dozens of snakes. I saw so many cool animals there, but I was able to restrain myself pretty well.

Yeah, I'd LOVE to walk into that place with like $50k in cash! I wouldn't know where to start.

One vendor had a het. albino retic (pretty good sized so I'm assuming either '05 or '06) for only $85. I walked by that snake 4 times before I finally convinced myself that I'm just not ready yet. Saw some baby albino burms for $125 that were calling to me also, but I ran away before my wallet worked its way out!

The one thing that did concern me with the large pythons is that I saw dozens and dozens of baby burmese for only $35-$45/each. At that price, and as cute as they are I can see alot of them being purchased on impulse and I'm sure a vast majority will end up being given up not long after. I doubt all the people buying them are being informed of the potential size of them as adults. Especially the females. I should have played dumb with a few of the vendors and asked how big they get just to see if I got an honest response or not.

Yea i had to slap myself back into reality a few times lol. This one show had a SWEET tiger retic and the guy only wanted like $50(at least 5ft) .Then i watched someone TRY to get it out to look at it and it tried to take his head off .I was happy i walked away after seeing that.I am sure alot of those baby burms will be dumped not long from now.I would have asked them just to see if they even attempted to inform the buyers.

Re: Anyone here go to Hamburg show?

I so wanted to go, but had other commitments to attend to. I'll just have to wait for the august show is all. The last time I went, I was amazed at the quantity of animals there and the varied selection. Hubby thought it had more of a selection than the white plains expo we went to years ago. Ah.. the money issue is always lurking behind everyone's back.

The show in August is run by a different promoter. I'll be curious to see if there is much difference between the two. I have one more boa on my list to get this year so if I can gather up the cash for it I will be going to that show also. The prices seem to be significantly lower than what you pay when ordering over the phone/net plus you save on the shipping charges. I only live 30 minutes from hamburg so it's not much of a haul.

yeah I know, but I've written down all the shows for this year so that I can go to any of them. Managed to go to the one right before this one... they had more bp's there than I'd ever seen at an expo. At this point, just going to a show is good enough for me.

There isn't much difference between the Northern Berks and the Northwestern Berks shows. From what I hear, one brother manages one show and the second manages the other show.

Btw, I was there today (11:15-3:30pm)...and I was amazed to see so many $35 CH burms. This was my 5th time attending the Hamburg show in one year. I walked out with 20+ reptiles...but of course, I co-own a reptile store here in NJ .

Next time I'll have to see who's going ahead of time an meet up with some folks from here. Just look for the 6'7" guy with a bunch of tats. I'm pretty easy to locate

For the August show I'll have to make an effort to get there a bit earlier to make sure I get the rodents I need. Small rats seem to go pretty quickly.

Well I'm a happy camper. Less than 12 hours after getting to her new home my last aquisition just took a 51g f/t mouse with absolutely no hesitation. As long as she reacts that way to the rats I will be set.
