Just got my setup all together, few questions.

Aside from the humidity levels being a little high (80+%) from the fresh substrate (Reptibark) I can't seem to get the cold side temps to rise above 78*, with the under hide temp probe reading 95*

I'm using a 75 watt red bulb, would simply moving up to a higher wattage bulb give me the few extra degrees I need on the cold side?

    any help is appreciated. Thanks

Yeah, try a slightly higher wattage bulb.. just be careful, with bulbs, it's really hard to keep the humidity in a good range. They tend to suck the humidity right out. Make sure it's a red bulb or a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) since you can't keep a white light on 24/7 without stressing your python.. and they need the temps to stay warm at night too.

An alternative to bulbs is an under tank heater that is wired to a thermostat.

I forgot to mention that I do have a uth. I dont think I will have a problem with humidity levels as the t-stat in my room for my air conditioner is always between 50% to 60%

So would it be wise to just ditch the red bulb and go straight to a CHE? And should i go to a 100W on the CHE? I have a thermostat for my setup, just need to pick it up in the morning.

Either a red bulb or CHE would work fine.. just try the next highest wattage (I guess that would be 100)

    good stuff, thanks

I guess it would be better to be able to create more heat than necessary rather than not enough heat. Because the ability of the UTH to heat is far greater than the 75 watt red bulb.
