Re: BCI and BCC???
B.c.i.(Boa constrictor Imperator)is the common boa found through out Central and South america ranging from Mexico down into Colombia and many surrounding islands.
B.c.c.(Boa constrictor constrictor) is the "True" boa from South Americas Peru, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, and Trinidad(I think thats all, please correct me)

also look at the widows peaks on the saddles, some of the classic bcc's show really good ones, and none of the bci's really show any. there's also quite a difference in head shapes. they're like anything, once you know them well enough you can kind of pick them out really quickly, even from a side shot of a body cue style.
gus rentfro breeds some beautiful boas and he breeds a lot of bci localities, he has awesome pics and info

Re: BCI and BCC???
i couldnt really find which ones stayed smaller out of the Bci and Bcc on that site and i know he asked the same question. But atleast in reference to the Colombian boas i believe it says 99% of them are Bci so im assuming they stay between 5-8' mostly.

Re: BCI and BCC???
the colombians, or common boas are bci's. there is a colombian bcc but they're expensive and not really around at all. some people even dispute that there are any. but yeah, chances are they'll stay in that range, but if you want smaller maker sure you get a male. i haven't seen any 10 foot boas in a while, but i did recently see a 9 ft female somewhere. i think you said in another post you weren't really interested in the central american boas or island boas because they tend to be nippy, so a male colombian would be right for you.
but there are a few other ssp of boa constrictors floating about, and although same may be more fragile and less common, oh wow are they impressive. but we'll save them for another time.

Re: BCI and BCC???
There are some B.c.i. whose lineage can be traced back to Colombia that reached over 10' so the potential is always there. Also, a 10' B.c.i. for the most part is going to be obese, if you keep it on a reasonable feeding schedule, 10' is a LONG way away IF it ever comes.
