    Hissing ...

My female ball has been acting a bit weird today ... her breathing seems to have picked up, her eyes are a bit fogged, and whenever i touch her she hisses at me. I not sure what but something is wrong with her or bothering her. Any advice or suggestions as to what it may be that is making her hiss like this would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,

Well I'm only making an educated guess but it sounds like she is going into shed so cannot see you so well and is a little more nervous and defensive.

Make sure the humidity in the tank is around the 60-70% level in her tank and her eyes should get more fogged over then clear for a day or so then she should shed her old skin and look all shiny and new.

However I may be wrong so if you feel able some info on your tank set up and temps etc and possible even pics of your tank.

How old is your snake and how long have you had her? Does she eat ok?

All this info should help us get you the answers you need quickly.

Not sure about your experience but I'm relatively new. The whole shedding thing still creeps me out. My snake doesn't get aggressive or nervous but he does get very reclusive. About the same time I notice a little fogging in his eyes, he'll go into hardcore soak mode and you can't get him to leave his water dish to save your life. His eyes go totally blue-gray and he just lays there for days looking like a zombie snake with a hangover! Then his eyes clear up and about two or three days later he just suddenly gets out of his water dish and sheds right there.

Instantly, he's back to his good ol' self!
