Weight/Age Ratios and Ranges

The other day I posted that my male ball Brian was 2-3 years old, was just over 3ft long and weighed 600gms. Someone suggested that he must be younger from his weight and to ignore his length. Could someone please provide a guide to weights, lengths and ages so I have a better idea of what is healthy for the little guy?

I mean if thats so what size weight should I be expecting him to grow too?

Well every single BP grows at a different rate I have a I have a 11 months old BP that is about 450 grams, he was the runt of the clutch and grows very slowly. On the other end I have 10 Months old BP who is about 850 grams, I got both of them when they were very young both are fed appropriate size prey once a week yet there is a big difference.

So basically there is no guide, however I would definitely expect a 2 to 3 year old male to be bigger then 600 grams which is why he might be younger then what you were told.

Does he look underweight?

The most important is that as long as your BP is healthy, has a clean bill of health and does not appear underweight there is nothing to worry about.

I am the same as Deborah I have a spided and a male pastel that were born a month apart the pastel is 425 grams empty and the spider is 406 grams empty. My mojave was born the same time as my spider and she is only 350 grams. I have a 4 year old female thats 3000 grams and a 4 year old female that 1900 so it all depends on the animal. Feed them right, and every week and let them grow at their pace and you'll be all good.

Thats fair enough but there are always exceptions and there is always an average. What I was looking for was a range so for example from your data something like:

0 - 1 Years > 400 to 1000 grams
1 - 2 Years > 800 to ???? grams

It would allow the less experienced amongst us to get a feel for how our babies are growing. Obviously a healthy looking snake is good but this would be a helpful indicator.

Well, Kashmire is an '05 (I purchased him in '05) and he's "just" under 700 grams. He also fasted for 8 months his first winter when I kept him in a glass enclosure. He only eats mice and only will take one a week (although this week he took two and had me dancing all over the house)! He's also the most likely in my collection to have a refusal (although we've not had a full fast since transferring him to a tub set-up).

So, I don't have a hard time believing that a 2 year old male could be 600 grams, from my own personal experience.
