Finally something about my set up!!

Ok guys I have finally got my setup settled and got a couple of shots of the young man. Apologies for all the speak that goes on in the page its for my kids at school - some of them know I have snake and have asked to see pictures of him. Also this is my personal website and is not related to any profit making scheme or company so I am putting the link up in good faith.

If you'd like to check out my set up please feel free to look at www.porangi.co.uk

    Thanks

    Chris

I really like your website! The viv looks great, with lots of cover for Brian. Were the temps just stabilizing when you took the picture? Looks like both sides are in the 70's?

Yeah, I had taken Brian out and put him into his temp home whilst I cleaned the viv, installed the carpet etc. I also lifted the viv by a foot or so. The viv had been on little legs which were about 4 inches high. He seemed upset by people peering down on him. He's now much higher and I'm hoping this is less intimdating. Temps were much better last night when I went to bed!

Very Cool set up, the only thing I have to say is that 3 years old is probably not how old brian is. 600grms is usually the weight of a much younger snake. Probably an 06 baby, IMO. He's a very pretty snake non the less, good luck with him.

You are correct on the age guess by the weight unless the snake was not properly fed(by previous owners) then he could be 3yrs old.I know of someone recently that was selling a ball python that they stated was 15yrs old and only 4ft and barely 1000 grams.I questioned them on his eating habits and they said he ate 1 mouse a month:eek: .They said the person they bought it from said thats all he needed to survive and be very healthy.Of course i told them the truth and informed them about our website here .

Looks good. From personal experience (Baby's had carpet in it), it can harbor bacteria and odors unless it's removed and cleaned VERY frequently. I was instructed every 2-3 days, but I switched to aspen.

Cool setup tho'. Do U find that Brian likes the hide w/the plants better than the one without?? They should be identical so he's not chosing security over the thermoregulation.

Is the viv itself homemade or did you buy it?

Interesting about the carpet - I have two sets so I guess a weekly change over ain't out of the question. How often do you replace aspen? Is there an injestion risk?

    The viv was purchased.

Hides - well for the first month he lived in the left one and then he switched to the right. Now he don't use the left. I am thinking I should even them up and will do next time I get in there.
