    What are the...

...egyptian deities of life and death? I had a really good idea for expansion of my wadjet eye tattoo on my ankle and I need to know these deities as they will be additions to the tattoo.

Basically, I have the Eye of Ra on my ankle. I want to get the same eye on the other side of the same ankle and get the Egyptian deity of life on my shin and the Egyptian deity of death on the back of my leg. That way it symbolizes life and death. You can't have one without the other. There will be some filling heiroglyphs, but the actual content of those symbols has not yet been decided.

So if anyone knows of these deities, let me know. I've been looking but can find nothing so far.

    Re: What are the...

    I have found some possibilities...

Anubis - God of the Dead and Embalming
Osiris - God of the Dead and the Underworld (my first pick)
Nephthys - Goddess of the Dead

    but none on life...

It's also the eye of Horus.
But most of the life gods are actually....godesses since women are connected with childbirth.

    Re: What are the...

true...I also read this lil bit...

"Many Egyptian gods find their origin in several of the Egyptian creation myths. These myths attempted to explain the Egyptians' place in the cosmos based on the observation of natural processes. This was particularly true for the flooding of the Nile. The flooding of the Nile was critical for Egyptian civilization. As a result, gods identified with nature became prevalent in the Egyptian creation myths. Some of the most common creation myths refer to Nu or Nun, describing the churning sea of chaos that existed before creation. Out of this chaos rose the egyptian sun god Ra. Ra then created deities that were both male and female. In turn, these deities gave birth to more deities, and the newly created deities were responsible for the creation of the physical world."

    Re: What are the...

Here's a breif quotes on egyptian mythology, compliments to wikipedia!

"The Egyptians believed that in the beginning, the universe was filled with the dark waters of chaos. The first god, Re-Atum, appeared from the water as the land of Egypt appears every year out of the flood waters of the Nile. Re-Atum spat and out of the spittle came out the gods Shu (air) and Tefnut (moisture). The world was created when Shu and Tefnut gave birth to two children: Nut (sky) and Geb (the Earth). Humans were created when Shu and Tefnut went wandering in the dark wastes and got lost. Re-Atum sent his eye to find them. On reuniting, his tears of joy turned into people."

    aaaand
"Osiris, by different accounts, was either the son of Re-Atum or Geb, and king of Egypt. His brother Set represented evil in the universe. He murdered Osiris and himself became the king. After killing Osiris, Set tore his body into pieces, but Isis rescued most of the pieces for burial beneath the temple. Set made himself king but was challenged by Osiris's son - Horus. Set lost and was sent to the desert. He became the God of terrible storms. Osiris was mummified by Anubis and became God of the dead. Horus became the King and from him descended the Pharaohs."

I'd go with Osiris and Amon-Ra (a.k.a Ra, Re-Atum, and too other many alias')
