Now that we actually HAVE a BP- 1st of many questions...

    Hi-

We were able to set up a tank months ago with proper temps and humidity, and brought our new BP home yesterday. She moved into the cool hide (81-83 degrees) without exploring the tank much. This morning we gently pushed her towards the warmer hide just so she would be aware that there was a warmer side, and she slid promptly into that hide.

Okay, good....but now our temp reading reads 87.6 max where before it read 91-93. It's been that way for over an hour. The probe is taped under the paper so we are sure she didn't shift it...and we are not sure what to do now? We don't want to disturb her any more but now we are wondering why the temp doesn't creep up as her body warms up...

If you have a reliable t-stat set up....I wouldn't worry too much about temp fluctuations that you'll see as she moves around and hangs out in different parts of the enclosure. You'll give yourself an ulcer if you do. 87.6 is just as fine as 90. So long as the temps anywhere in the enclosure don't spike to extreme degrees, everything is fine.
