    New roof? Who knew...

...it could be so stress inducing??? It's not financially stressful, as insurance is paying for it. (most of it, anyhow) But they're up there right now, tearing the old roof off....and it's just constant thud thud bang scrape thud crash scrape scrape thud bang scrape crash.....

I mean...it's not like ~I~ have to do the work...don't know why it's bothering me at all....but it's driving me nuts!

    Calgon....take me away!!!

Oh man; that really bites. I remember getting a new roof at my mom's place b/c it was leaking; it is honestly the only time in my life I saw my mom cry.
I hope that it is all over fast for you!

    Re: New roof? Who knew...

Getting a new roof sucks we have had it done twice because of different hail storms. One time they broke a light that was on the ceiling cause they were banging so hard it just fell and shattered all over the kitchen floor. Hope it is over quick for you.

    Re: New roof? Who knew...

I've been through getting a new roof too, at other peoples houses as well. But my family just does it themselves, so instead of hearing all the banging and what not, I'm the one doing it But since we just do it to familys houses, there isn't anyone inside to dirve crazy with it.

Hope they get it done fast!! ^_^

Thanks for commiserating with me! My neck and shoulders are tensing up so badly. I think by the end of this day, I'm gonna have to get a nice, long massage from my hubby!

I am about to get a new roof....

the old one is blowing off right now in the big storm we're having!
there are shingles and bits of wood all over the yard

my barn roof is peeled back like a tin can...but nothing in there is prone to water damage thank goodness. As long as it doesn't cave in it will be fine...it did cave in a couple years back though!

weather sure is neat, but expensive! LOL

    Re: New roof? Who knew...

Oohhhh, now THAT's stress! We lost a bunch of shingles in one of the hurricanes that swept over Montgomery when we lived there, but they just replaced the missing shingles, not the whole roof.

This one was damaged in a hail storm LAST YEAR, but neither our tenants or property manager saw fit to inform us of a storm that caused new roofs to be placed on over 1/3 of the houses in the area. We didn't find out about the damage until we moved back in a few months ago. Fortunately, we have a great insurance company and they still covered it, even though it wasn't exactly a timely claim.

I'm gonna just have a glass of wine and enjoy the show

I've got enough heat packs to get my snake through a power outage so what else is there to worry about? (just kidding....but not about the wine)

What a hassle. Know what your going thru. My kitchen has been gutted for over a month. Should be finished in a week.

Just tell yourself, "It will all be over very soon and I will have a new roof".

    Re: New roof? Who knew...

    Update:

Two guys showed up this morning and began working again. About an hour into it, it started raining. They've been sitting on the front porch ever since. Just now...two more guys joined the work team. Now they're all sitting on the front porch. The roof is about 1/3 finished...parts of it still has old shingles, parts of it has new, and parts of it has no shingles at all. It's still raining. Not hard, but a constant, steady drizzle.

I tried to ask if the rain was going to mess things up and cause leaks, but apparently none of these gentlemen speak even enough English to tell me that. They just tried to answer "yes" or "no" without a real clue about what I was asking.
